Search for next technology partner for GST Portal is on...

Govt has appointed Ernst & Young (E&Y) as its consultant for formulation of the Request for Proposal (RFP) to invite bids for the next Technology Partner for managing the GST Portal.

Govt is now considering separate vendors for GST hardware and software to remove dependency on one company. The flip side of having two vendors is that both of them may have issues and blame each other for any shortcomings. So govt is considering all aspects.

The consultancy firm would have to ensure a competitive bidding process and a seamless transition of the IT service backbone of GSTN to another technology company, who would be providing the software and hardware required in GST systems for the next seven years beginning October 1, 2024.

The scope of work of the consultancy firm would include preparing a request for proposal (RFP) document by evaluating the present system, based on the experience of the GST technology system of the past years, and provide a roadmap for enhancement and operations for the next contract period.

The government is aiming to invite bids for the next technology support provider for GST in March 2024 and is mulling separate contracts for hardware and software consultancy pro.......

It is not best course of action by the departments for the rejection of ITC for non filing of GST returns by the sellers. Because of this genuine persons (those who have valid documents and proof of payments) are suffering. This is should rectified the departments immediately by taking the force measure on the non-filers since it is the job of the departments.
