The Centre on 30.04.2021 allowed the import of oxygen concentrators as "gifts" for personal use through post, courier or e-commerce portals amid the surge in COVID-19 cases in the country.
An amendment to the Foreign Trade Policy, 2015-20, has eased the customs clearance exemption, allowing Indians to receive oxygen concentrators as gifts from their relatives, friends and through e-commerce portals abroad.
"The exemption for oxygen concentrators is allowed only for a period till July 31, 2021 for personal use," the notification No. 4/2015-2020, dated 30.04.2021 issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, stated.
