GST Evasion in India since 2017

(July 2017 to Feb 2023)

Among all states, Maharashtra topped the list of GST Evasion, Recovery & No. of Arrests made in GST.

Maharashtra witnessed a total GST evasion of Rs.60,059 Cr. and 289 arrests made in last 5 and a half years.

Karnataka, Gujarat, Delhi, Haryana & Rajasthan are the top runner ups in the list.

Tax evasions, bogus invoices without any deliveries of goods, cyber frauds using GST identification numbers, forging up shell companies, fake business transactions, failure to deposit due taxes to authorities and illegally claiming input tax credit (ITC) have now become the biggest reasons for rise in GST-related offences in the country.
